Welcome to Parnassus Reads!
After a few attempts at running my own personal blog, and running two class blogs, I decided to try out blogging about books. I’d tried most of the free blog sites and decided on wordpress, so when the time came I bought my own domain name, and well, this is the result! This blog is relatively new–started near the end of 2011–but I’m quite happy with it. I’m always open to suggestions though, so if you have any advice or suggestions to help me improve this blog, I’d love to hear them.
I read all kinds of books–I don’t stick to one genre in particular, though if you browse my reviews you’ll notice a lot of fantasy and YA reviews. Because I’m just getting started as a blogger, I’ve been reviewing stuff that doesn’t take me very long to read and doesn’t require deep meditation on my part. If you check out my to-read page on Goodreads (link on your left), you’ll see just how varied my tastes are.
About the reader behind Parnassus Reads:
My name is Veronica, and I’ve been a student for almost all of my adult life (or for the past 10 or so years). I’m finishing up my master’s in English in Idaho and just moved to Seattle, where I’ll be a student for just one more year. Then the tables will turn, and I’ll be the one handing out the reading lists. I’ve got a dog, Orwell, who’s adorable. I’ve also got two kids under six, and a wonderful husband who keeps coffee and cupcakes in ready supply.
When I’m not reading, I’m usually either playing video games (PS3 only) or watching British TV on Netflix (my current obsessions are Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, MI-5, and I’m waiting to get my hands on State of Play (the TV show) and Page 8 because I love Bill Nighy). Current games I’m playing are Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. I’m waiting on The Last Guardian and the new Tomb Raider.
